Whizzard Ice hate v.2.1 (1st Place York SC)

Dracon_ian 55

My MWL build of my Whizzard deck that I put together a while ago. Went 6-1 on the day. Finishing 3rd seed, 1st in top-8. It's essentially the same build as my Pre-MWL build (see derived from) that went 3rd (1st seed) at Stockport SC. My corp deck is here.

Can recover from good starts for FA, with Turntable and Clot with 3 Clone Chips. And against slow decks it's great as you can build up, and cutlery problematic ICE. It struggles against good meat damage players, you have to play careful and rely on luck. Also, if you don't get your Clone Chips, you can be stuck without your needed breakers or be able to stop the FA train. Caprice Nisei is also a tough one if you can't remove the ICE protecting it, Faust food, D4v1d counters, and normal credits for standard breakers often don't allow for many failed runs.

Round 1: Harmony Medtech (Won); They just Pup R&D, I use it's net damage to try trash I've Had Worse to get through my stack quicker and draw the important. Steal a #GFI off top, manage to cutlery a Grim, then a Lotus Field on their scoring server to take a double advanced #Future Perfect, and then top deck a #GFI on my last turn after time called.

Round 2: 24/7 Harpsicord Butchershop (Lost); This was a shame. Had 6 points (7 + News Team). They had tried to kill me twice, but I've Had Worse saved me both times. Then got Plascrete Carapace down. Unfortunately I had to run a 5 advanced shattered remains in case it was over-scored Beale (7 advanced Beale won have won them the game, had already stolen 1). Had to Levy AR Lab Access as stack ran out, and couldn't take the meat damage, drew furiously for I've Had Worse, didn't get it, and killed next turn.

Round 3: NEH Butchershop (Won); I manage to get some early points, with stacked Medium, they make calculation that they have Astro-train in hand, and not many points left in R&D, so decide to risk it. It didn't work. If I hadn't scored in R&D, or hit a Cyberdex, game would have been different.

Round 4: Titan FA, Cane found here (Won); Faust, and D4v1d, do a lot of work here. I'm able to snipe a 1 or 3 points from scoring remotes, Medium for a few points, and then I think I steal the last point from HQ.

Finish Swiss on 12 points, 6-0-2. 3rd Seed. Onto Double Elimination. Luckily someone traded me their train ticket for my ride in a car back to Leeds, so the didn't have to sit around and watch me play.

1st Round: Titan FA, same deck as last round (Won); I know how to beat this deck, and as higher seed it'd be silly not to choose to play against this one. They get off to a better start scoring two Project Atlas quickly, whilst I fumble and struggle to set up. I go to steal an 1-pointer from a remote and then realize I forgot to install my Turntable to take the Atlas counter. Manage to stabilize, and then medium for the win, using Turntable along the way to build up the points.

2nd Round: I Corp and Lose (see other decklist). Into the loser's bracket.

3rd Round: NEH FA (Win): I drop Wyldside turn 1, and don't find my Adjusted Chronotype so an on 3-click turns. They try to rush an Astro behind an ICE. I guess it's a Wraparound, and install D4v1d. I manage to get a few more points from places. They try taxing out my D4v1ds by making me run through the Wrap around and (I think) Archangel, which I then Spoon. They build up 2 more ICE on that wrap around whilst I have D4v1d, Faust and Medium and a Clone Chip. I run it, first ICE a Architect, discard Mimic to Faust to pump 2, Clone Chip it in and break, get through the next ICE and Wrap around and steal the Astro for the win.

4th Round: I corp and Win.

5th Round: I corp and Win.

6th Round: NBN: The World is Your's*, PsychoBeale (Win): I played this deck for a while when is was the Decklist of the Week. So I know exactly how it plays; if you don't have Film Critic or Imp, you just have to go for the money, and take calculated risks. Especially, as they need to Midseasons you for a lot of tags to get the full Beale. They gift me early points in form for Exploda-Palozza. I get to 4 points. Then the Midseasons come. They use all their money to guarantee the 13 tags to 7-point Beale. I keep all my money to take 30-odd tags. Drop Medium and pound R&D, know the ICE would be Errand Boy (at this point, it steal 7-points before they combo). After dropping a second medium, they have to put a little engine over R&D to stem the flow. I take the break to draw madly for my Clot, don't see it. Next turn Wyldside into D4v1d, and Spooned the Little Engine to get the final point. Found out after they had the Beale Psychographics combo in hand.

7th Round, I corp and Win. Taking my first Store Championship at the second attempt!

So.... why spend 9 point of influence on Clone Chip when you are not playing Parasites?

D4v1d, to be able to lose my rig in a facecheck, or use my breakers as Faust food. If you have Clone Chip down, you don't need to hold onto things or play conservatively for risk of losing an important piece. It also means you can trash parts of your rig to install what is needed at that moment and not fear having lost your 1 piece. I always end up using my Clone Chips. Also, without them, Clot becomes near pointless.

Parasite is too slow, and takes up too much MU with only a single Turntable. My standard rig to get final points is a Faust, David, Medium, Corroder, and 1 of the fixed breakers depending on what they've played.
