Spoonin' Hosh -- Still Good

BizTheDad 213

This deck was really good before System Gateway and rotation and it's still good after.

ICE destruction solves a lot of problems in the meta right now. Runner econ isn't what it once was which means only paying to break ICE once or twice helps a lot. Not having to deal with on-encounter effects for multiple runs means not having to include Hunting Grounds. Not having to run through an expensive remote multiple times means I don't have to include Political Operative. Destroying ICE with advancement counters means I can slow down those powerful Red Planet Couriers decks long enough to find Government Takeover. That being said, Spombo decks are still a problem and the original answer I had for those decks -- Drug Dealer -- sadly rotated out. However, one bad matchup doesn't a bad deck make.

I've surprised many a player with the two Engolo's. While eight influence is a lot, the deck requires Engolo which means two plus the Gachapon's means you will consistently get it out and have a backup just in case.

Post-Rotation Fun Changes

DJ Fenris -- This guy really helps with the late game. Recurring Spooned allows you to kill two more pieces of ICE. Also, it helps you get back late game pieces you might have lost like Stargate.

The Turning Wheel -- Someone suggested this after I missed Government Takeover in HQ seven turns in a row. This really helps mid-late game pressure.

Closing Thoughts

I hope you have as much fun playing this deck as I've had tweaking it over the last year. I'm sure there's room to improve the deck as it still doesn't contain any of the new and powerful cards.

As a forever lover of Stabby Maxx, this is a list after my own heart.

Would you consider some numbers of Labor Rights for when you inevitably run out of deck to recur your Spoons?

@anarchomushroom, I think you can experiment with any number of variants and still keep the deck strong as long as the core of Engolo, Hippo, and Spooned remain. I did try Labor Rights for a while but I found I got the same benefit with DJ Fenris'ing into Steve Cambridge: Master Grifter without sacrificing slots.

This list looks fantastic! Gonna steal it.

Btw, is two Keiko's enough? This looks like a memory hog rig - what if you don't find Keiko quick enough?

And no Liberateds? Deck is rich enough without them?

@shruthless, in my latest iterations, I've included Liberated Account.
