Sportcoat - 4-1 @ Austin Regionals, #6/33 After Swiss

Kopiok 373

This deck took me to 6th place after the swiss rounds at the Austin regional. I had to drop from the cut in order to take care of some personal business, so I was not able to see how far it would take me in the top cut. Shoutout to @branimated (I think actually @cybersage on here) for collabing this thing down and getting the original shell together.

Pretty straightforward glacier HB, you've probly seen it before. I'm incredibly happy with all card choices, here. It might be worth dropping one of the ice for a 3rd Ash, but I got value from everything during the day. Biotic, Crisium, Ultraviolet, Arella, Ash, all of them hit for huge value.

Card Chocies

Only 10 agendas? Why not Asa? I don't really feel like I hard-install enough stuff to make the efficiency better than Sportsmetal's upside. The card draw from Sportsmetal is pretty insane, even if it only triggers about 4-5 times in a match and right after an agenda install is when you probably need to gain tempo the most. I did gain a lot of credits on the day, as well.

Why not Architects of Tomorrow for tempo, then? - I want to use good ICE instead of bad ICE.

Global Food as unicorn vs. Fairchild 3.0? - With Sportsmetal, the slots from GFI are nice and forcing the runner to steal an extra agenda is extra super nice. I also found Fairchild 3.0 to be too expensive for my game plan. Fairchild 2.0 does enough work on centrals and Seidr and Surveyor are just fine for the remote.

Not 2 Ultraviolet? - Can't play it all the time but it's situationally incredible. So, one of. Would rather have ICE and the Jaheem than an extra Ultraviolet.

Notable Plays

Not going to do a full report, really. Played vs. 3 std Valencia, 1 Zer0/CV/Consume Kim, and I can't remember the last one I'm so sorry :(. Only lost to 1 of the Valencia. Got swept round 1 by the guy who ended up #1 after Swiss, then won all the rest.

Not a ton to say, played pretty much how you'd expect, outside of these plays:

Forgot that Gatekeeper let you take agendas out of Archives in my first game and it directly lead to my only loss with the deck on the day. I probably still would have lost, but it didn't help. I did, in fact, save myself in a later game by remembering this lesson.

Dude thought he won on an Indexing that saw 3 agendas. He assumed the win, Mad Dashed for a steal +1, then went into the run for the win... before I reminded him I still had to draw with my trigger. CUE HANDS ON HEAD! He forgot about that. I drew the agenda he wanted to steal, and he didn't think of this eventuality and put the next agenda at the bottom of the 5 stack, putting it now one card out of reach. I scored next turn, drew that 3rd one, Arella'd it into the remote, and he couldn't find the last agenda in my hand before I won. I got lucky here.

Gentleman ran R&D early game with only 3 key engine cards on the board and only 1 credit in the pool. I rezzed Fairchild 2.0... He had to trash 2 of his installed cards and took a brain. Never seen Fairchild 2 do so much work.

Managed to score a Vitruvius with a counter. Had a clean hand and a big window... Ultraviolet into nothing, install an NGO. Next turn Vitruvius it back and play Ultraviolet again for an agenda to score. Ugh felt so gud.

Anyway that's it.
