The Expanse

straygeologist 54

Ive been playing this for a long time in casual. Its got a surprisingly good track record, few Runners are prepared to pay to stop this goliath from happening. Wizzard is the notable exception...

Ice up HQ and R&D, maybe MCC with Ice Wall. Keep MMC and Museum in play as much as you can, use Tech Startup and Bootcamp to pull them as needed.

Play this deck slow, keep watering down R&D with Museum. Most of the assets are just economic attrition. When you have 2 counters on MCC, you can Install an Agenda; Advance, Advance, and pay the rest in credits to score on the same round. Watch out for Clot. I dont have a good solution to kill Clot.

Woodcutter is a fun trick, there's a window to move counters from MCC when you rez it. If you have enough you can turn Woodcutter deadly right when it flips.

Use excess MCC counters with GRDNL refinery, you never need more than 2 MMC counters to score, utilize the rest to make money with a 2:1 return... then cycle them back in with Museum.

Interesting. I might try this out.

Could probably do well with Turtlebacks, but I've never needed more cash outta this.

The Expanse is such a good show.

This looks very interesting, it has 2 influence left though any ideas on how to abuse them?

I play a similar list and it cannot be understated how much this deck benefits from the inclusion of:

2 Mumbad City Hall + 3 Mumba Temple + 1 Consulting Visit

You can tutor the temples and museums for infinite spamming, and any operation as needed with consulting. Pretty much Hot Tubs without the flatline threat. Also worth taking a look at Govt. Takeover. No one will know you have it and it is possible to go down to 8 agendas in a 54 card deck which is insane. It's tempting to use The Root instead in order to free up slots (and synergize with BB grid), but the ability to tutor out econ. and recursion off of a Tech Startup is super broken. Even without the Heritage Comittee / Salem's tutoring it still works on consulting, meaning you can run a 1-of for every operation and tutor them when needed - i.e. only use Diversified Portfolio when you have upwards of 10 remotes.

Also, IMO Paywall is still better than Scarcity in Gagarin, but maybe I should run both, so thanks for that idea.

The GRNDL + MCC Combo is no joke though... If you want to put your last 2 influence to good use I would include Reversed Accounts/Junebugs. Same combo as GRNDL/Woodcutter respectively, except less expensive in the latter case. The runner will concede every time after you drop them to 0c with this (into a Hard-Hitting News, anyone?)

Weyland fo' lyfe.

@grueble Thanks for the tips! I will definitely be testing the options you mentioned. I've already tweeked this deck 10 times since I posted. I'm now going with 3 ExecBootCamps, Off the Grid (under MCC), and now trying Snoop ice since I'm just looking for things to spend money on apparently.

Scarcity was really punishing in one instance, as I kept pulling it back out with Clone Suffrage Movement (currently slotted). The Runner just couldn't generate cash, let alone have enough to run & trash my assets.

I dropped the Virus Suite and have since had to Purge Viruses for 3 clicks in a couple games, but the drip economy on MCC and Bankers & Pads didn't make it hurt so bad.

Oh man I love Clone Suffrage and Off the Grid! Yeah this deck is honestly a blast to play as either a FA or a prison + kill deck. My version runs way fewer ICE though so it's a different beast.

Another cool thing to look at is Mausolus when it comes out. It synergizes with all of your Dedication Ceremonies, and you can use MCC to make it end the run in a pinch.
