Deck valid after Seventh Rotation |
As the name might suggest this deck has been a work in progress for quite some time. And while I played a very similar list at the American Online mega city (6th in swiss) and Van BC Mega City (taking 6th), I tend to wait to post my lists until they feel "finished". At this point I can happily say there isn't anything I would change about the deck. So here it is, I hope you enjoy it :)
This deck (at least the way I play it) get's very rich. This is important because the main win con is mid game Measured Response kills. You want to get a lot of credits and aggressively push agendas. Ideally, the runner takes the 2 pointers and you get to score a Basalt Spire. Basalt is incredibly helpful for Measured Response kills or late game FA score out wins. Big Deal was one of my final and pivotal inspirations; if we are already making 20+ credits to threaten multiple Measured we could use a single card to convert that large cash stack into an alternative win con if the runner becomes un-killable (which is fairly popular these days). I played Big Deal in 3 of my 5 corp games in APAC, it's definitely not a joke (that's more than average though).
You're main priority in most games is to score a The Basalt Spire. You can do this 3 ways, laid out below in my order of preference.
1) Step 1 get an advancement counter on a piece of ice with Wall to Wall. Step 2 install a The Basalt Spire somewhere you don't think the runner will check, and install a Cybersand Harvester. Step 3 use Ob + Cybersand to fetch Hearts and Minds, fully advancing and scoring your 5/3 that turn.
2) Just jam it behind a pice of ice, next turn install a second pice of Ice and double advance the Basalt the regular way. If one of the ice is Lamplighter this works pretty well.
3) Use two copies of Slash and Burn Agriculture like Seamless Launch as another never advance option. If the runner runs archives, take one of the SlaBs back if you aren't ready to go for a threat 4 kill. Spin Doctor is nice but not required for this option.
I like the first option the best because it's often the cheapest; not committing clicks and credits to pre advancing is great. You can also use the Cybersand Harvester to fetch AMAZE Amusements if the runner finds the The Basalt Spire. It's also worth understanding the interaction between AMAZE Amusements and Lamplighter; as long as there are two ice for a remote you can use the Lamplighter to fetch AMAZE Amusements and stick the runner with the tags on steal. This also works on centrals ðŸ«
Make more money, try to to collect multiple Measured Responses and finish the "score a Basalt Spire" mini quest. As you get toward the end of the mid game you have to start evaluating if the runner will die or if you you'll have to score out. Oppo is your last ditch option to set up a mid game kill.
This usually starts when you're fairly sure the runner won't die no matter what you do. If you haven't scored a Basalt Spire or used all your counters, you're in a tough spot. If you're rich you can use Big Deal to convert money into a scored Basalt Spire which is good, but not always as easy as it might seem. If you enter late game with a couple points, scoring out is possible. Five points makes it pretty easy but that's not always a luxury you'll have. The other issue about late game is your ice becomes close to all blank. Keep your opponent's win cons in mind and do your best! With Basalt counters the SlaBs can score each other, with 11 credits you can Extract > Install > Big Deal a 2 pointer. Keep your outs in mind. You can also sometimes bait runners through Maskirovka enough times that they panic and give up on living, but I wouldn't expect that from most players.
Spin Doctors are great. Fetch them, then sell them, then recur them, then fetch them again and sell them. If you rez Spinny D 6 times during the game you're doing it right. Cybersand Harvester and Extract pay a fine price for Spin Doctors.
Wall to Wall: one of my all time favorite Ob cards. Mostly because it's trash 3 and becomes Spin D with a couple great up sides. This deck wants cards, draw is good. Everyone is sooo happy with AU Co.'s +2 cards thing and we got that at home with Ob 😉 You also really want an adv counter on your ice for the Hearts and Minds trick.
AMAZE Amusements + Lamplighter: make sure you understand how this interaction works. Since this version of the deck only plays 2 EotLs the tags seem to be more of a speed bump for the runner (a fairly critical speed bump). Usually the tags get dropped before the runner gets killed from them.
Big Deal: don't go into the game expecting to win with this. It's there as a back-up plan that gets used if the runner manages to "not die" long enough. It's worth mentioning you can Big Deal a 2 pointer with a Humanoid Resources trigger 😄
I think that's it for now, if you have any questions about the list hit me up in the comments and I'll do my best to answer them.
It was really wonderful getting to play in the online APAC event! I really enjoy online play and want to send a special thank you to Kror for running the event and everyone who showed up, it was a ton of fun!
