This card is great for two main reasons:

  • it let you check R&D and avoid all the nasty traps that could hide there
  • it gives you knowledge about what will be the next five cards drawn by corporation

In most cases, you will want to play it on your first click, to have enough time to come back for any agendas you moved up front. Be careful about Jackson Howard, because his deck-shuffling mambo jumbo can negate effect of this card. But on the other hand, you can use Indexing to lure corporation into wasting Howard sooner that they would want. If you play it, be sure your run will be successful and you will be able to use it, it would be a shame to lose it's powerful effect to Caprice Nisei or Crisium Grid.

If there are no agendas in five cards in R&D, you will at least now know to look for them elsewhere.

With 3 influence cost it's not something you can fit in any deck, but one copy here and there in Criminal or Anarch deck can be very surprising for the corporation. In the way they won't really appreciate the surprise. It's event, so after Comet lands, there will be some pretty nasty combos to play with The Maker's Eye.

This card alone will make many Jinteki players cry. When installed, it can shield you from the Snare!, from advanced Project Junebug or net damage portion of Fetal AI. In critical situation it can be the most efficient tool to break past that pesky Komainu + The Twins combo.

It can break such scary ICE as Janus 1.0, Flare or Shinobi for mere 3 . What's not to love?

It is not as universal as Faerie, which can be used to break any sentries, but can break AP ICE, which means Merlin (codegate) or Wall of Thorns (barrier).

It's one-off, so you will want as many recursion as you can fit in your deck to make it available whenever you want. That means Clone Chip, Test Run and Self-modifying Code. That means you will only need one copy of Deus Ex in your deck, and most probably, you will want to play Shaper to have all the tutoring cards it needs. You will probably bring his anti-destroyer brother Sharpshooter along.

Ah, the sweet joy of playing Test Run from the three Prepaid VoicePAD to once again install Deus Ex for free.

But remember! If it's not installed, and you are about to get fried by Snare, there is no window for bringing it back with Clone Chip and then using it. Don't be greedy and install it before accessing any risky server.

What would Daft Punk and Pharrell do?

Is Easy Mark good card? What about card that gives you the same to ratio, but take less space in the deck with greater economy effect.

But Lucky Find truly shines with Prepaid VoicePAD as a economy engine which rivals Magnum Opus or Kati Jones. Especially with Kate "Mac" McCaffrey: Digital Tinker, who can install PADs cheaper . With three VoicePADs installed late game, you can earn 9 in two turns. From zero!

And you can always use it from Same Old Thing to play it from the heap for the 3 clicks total and run on last one in critical situations. Something that can't be done with Day Job. There are also some futher interactions coming our way with Comet, new Shaper which will make event based economy even better.

If you have some spare influence points to spend in your deck, Lucky Find can be good option, even without VoicePADs.

How does LF work with Comet? If I play Diesel and then LF do I still pay one click? —
it's two clicks for those two events. so if you play LF first, that's two clicks, then you play the diesel which isn't a click, or you play the diesel for a click, and play the lucky find, but you still pay the extra click for it being a double, so either way it's 2 clicks —

With all the noise about MaxX: Maximum Punk Rock chaos and solid Bad Publicity play that brings Valencia Estevez: The Angel of Cayambe, the third identity from Order & Chaos may look less exciting. Nothing futher from the truth.

Edward Kim opens brave new levels of threat that corporations must react to. Remember how many times before you didn't rez ICE on HQ, beceause there was no agendas in your hand? Just some Scorched Earth or Restructure waiting to be played? Yeah, Kim will take care of them. Without the Imp.

This is the same with R&D - do you really want to not rezz your defences there so he can trash your Celebrity Gift or Biotic Labor for free? Yeah, that what I thought. Corporations must react, because Kim can easily destroy any combo play they were preparing in their HQ. That Wayland looked very manacing until he lost all the Scorches. Sorry for your lost Midseason Replacements NBN. Not.

I guess taking Imp to his deck is no-brainer. With it installed, you can destroy up to two non upgrade/asset cards per turn. You will probably also need Medium to dig deep into R&D and hit all the important cards. At this moment, there are 65 cards in the game that Kim can destroy. For FREE. netrunnerdb.com

Kim is a new threat for R&D and HQ. And this is something that can't be ignored.

Indeed - I've been told that any time an Imp has two or more counters on the corp's turn, the right move is always to clear counters. Well, Kim is a recurring Imp. The only thing a Kim deck can't destroy is Ice. It means that suddenly, R&D is more porous. Normal runners hit Hedge Fund in R&D, and move elsewhere. Kim destroys it, and sees another card. He's a much more low-key ID, but he's very much a nice ID. —
Still the ID seems underwhelming when building a deck for it. I would like to trash the first Operation you encounter each run, not only once per turn. Not a big difference but it will make the medium runs more effective and the Nerve Agent equally more effective. Dunno, as it is right now i think that is the leat powerful one. —

In most cases, you don't want to use Silver without a little help from his NEXT Bronze friend. Those ICE works in team, and your objective as a corp is to have as many of them rezzed as you can. They are cheap, and grow with power during the course of the match.

On its own, Silver is just a lonely Ice Wall which can't be advance. You need to build deck around it. Most likely, you will want to play The Foundry: Refining the Process, which lets you add another copy of ICE when you rez it, great to build server defenses fast. Since you need to pay 12 influence points for the whole suit, you probably won't see it outside of HB faction.

With three Silver and three Bronze rezzed you can pump it up to 6 "End the runs", and with Mother Goddess you will turn it to SEVEN. I can't wait what other NEXT ICE future will bring.

But there are cons obviously. Alone, those ICE are not very powerful, and if runner doesn't poke every server, you won't have many occasions to rez you defences. So it's best to group you NEXT, so the first rezzed make the second one stronger. Sometimes, you will want to lure runner into your servers just to activate your NEXT ICE, so they will be more taxing next time. You may think about playing Amazon Industrial Zone, so you rezz them on one server basicaly only for install cost. Rezzed NEXT is stronger than unrezzed.

The greatest danger is of course ICE destruction. Parasite will ruin your day, and new cutlery events, Spooned and Knifed will make you cry. So beware - with each NEXT destroyed, your chain weakens.
