A Colourful Whale

From immediate glance, E3 is an obvious tool to synergise well with Quetzal. What's that? A Heimdall 2.0? Well I'll just break that for 2. The ever popular and expensive to break Eli 1.0? Why that's just a simple 1 credit.

So with this in mind, I wanted a deck that would get the most out of the E3's. Let's look at the programs. Knight is an obvious choice, it works on just about anything, and E3 helps bring those costs down on multiple subroutine ice. So what else sounds nice. Darwin of course. And since we plan to go with Datasuckers and Parasites (because Anarch), Darwin can do with that little bit of help. Last but not least, D4v1d is a great addition for obvious reasons.

So this makes our runs very cost efficient. Why not make it even more so. Desperado gives the extra memory needed for all the viruses/Darwins/Knights but also makes our cheap runs cheaper.

With Daily Casts for the click free credit gain, and Mr. Masanori for his click free card draw, we can spend as much time running as possible. And more time to manage this beautiful head of hair.

Yes all nice and all as you say obvious. Which is a shame atm about her id like to see if people can come up with something new... i got this idea netrunnerdb.com am not saying it'll work at all, let alone better i just want to see if people can come up with something different with her id get us really looking into what she can do.

I have a feeling this deck (eventually probably with 2 keyholes) will rock hard.

great build! i do agree with @romanoSoprano you should add another Keyhole

Would Spinal Modem be a better fit? It would save you the influence, and you can use the credits to boost Darwin. I can't see running more than once per turn with this rig, anyways. Maybe use the influence for lucky find or clone chip?

I will probably slot in a second Keyhole alright. @Thike I went with Desperado as I feel it complements Quetzals aggressiveness. Ideally you don't need the Darwin to get very big as you have Knight and D4v1d to deal with higher strength ice. Plus I don't think this deck would have economic issues.

hm probably need to test, but I think Quetzal shouldnt be running so much that the influence for Desperado is maximized. Spinal might really be a better fit.

The way Quetzals ability works, and the fact that you will be limited by D4v1d counters won't lend itself to very many runs per turn. One, maybe two, and spending 9(!) influence to maybe gain a credit or two per turn, I don't know. For that I think Cyberfeeders are better, you can use them to install viruses or feed Darwin with even if you dont run, they are 1c cheaper and you can have multiples of them. This also makes it possible to include a copy or two of Grimoire.

Also my experience with djinn is not stellar, if he comes late, he is totaly useless, also E3 are much more important than your viruses imo (so I would mulligan for that instead of djinn or keyhole), I would prefer some card draw instead (Quality time for the saved influence perhaps).

Also personally I am not a fan of Liberated accounts, but that is a matter of personal choice I quess.

But personally I can't wait to try this deck, I am a fan of AI breakers, D4v1d was awesome and now with Quetzal it gets even better.

Most of my Jinteki decks consist of 2x Barrier Ice .... I feel this runner is irrelevant to me =)

I used this deck for my tournament last Saturday and it went undefeated. Very nice combo of card ability, E3, Knight, Darwin at 4, and D4v1d. The real champ was Keyhole. As soon as I got Keyhole out, the game was pretty much mine.

BTW- I was using 2 Desperado and 2 keyhole

@jkl620 Thanks for the feedback. I haven't managed to test the deck yet, but I;m glad to hear it worked out well for you. I think adding that 2nd Keyhole is a must alright

I have been playing a very similar build and to be honest I see one problem: Purging. I have been in situations with a decent amount of money, and good size darwin and a datasucker, then I get purged and I can't get in anywhere. If they don't have big ice I can't use d4v1d and knights won't get through multiple pieces of ice.

The other thing people have been doing with Q is running Overmind+Deep Red. The problem is, yes, now you only have to spend one counter off of overmind with E3, but you have to pay to get up to strength from 0 every time.

To be honest, I think that just running regular breakers is the way to go. You are safer bc of Q's ability and it will save you some money against HB ICE and with Knight, but I believe that in the long run, just running regular breakers will save you money and you will be less crippled by purges. This is just my experience so far, and my humble opinion.

Yes, if the corp purges, then next turn Install-Adv-Adv, you can't get past Lotus Field even if you manage to charge datasuckers on something, that's why I play 3x Surge. They Purge, I charge Darwin(1), then they IAA, I charge Darwin(2) + Purge(+2) and I am back to 4 and can again get anywwhere. This will get better with more datapacks as we get more options to manipulate virus counters.

Hi Diroishi, Awesome deck list, was hoping to take something like this to my upcoming tournament... Have you updated it at all since this was created with the next couple of datapacks?

Hey Rikkstar, thanks. I've updated the list as it was pretty out of date. Here's the most up to date version: netrunnerdb.com
