Nasir OverHook

BTrain 2971

Huge credit goes to ODie for the "By Hook and By Crook" deck, which I've adapted for Nasir. Grappling Hook pairs with E3 to break ice, along with Overmind for single sub breakers. The main advantage I expect this deck to have over "Nasir vs. Goliath" is pure speed. I've never been a fan of how many moving pieces NvsG has to get in place before it really starts to sing, and more often than not, I find that I can't usually run until far later than I'd like.

I'm actually wondering if this deck can operate without the Personal Workshop, because I feel like Magnum Opus would be enough to get these cheaper breakers up and running without much trouble. I'm absolutely leaving it in for the first round of tests though because Nasir feels like he has to have the Workshop in to be effective, especially since that's the crux of his ID.

This is a really interesting variant of the deck, using Overmind / Grappling Hook for a Meidan breaker suite. Recurring Hooks plays into Exile: Streethawk's ability, but Grappling Hook doesn't care about your credit pool mid-run

Ghost Runner is an intriguing inclusion that I'm going to try to explore in my own Exile version. I like the use of Sneakdoor Beta as the last three influence instead of the Para/sucker, but if you're taking the direct route you sometimes need to bring stuff down to size.

I'd have to play with it to know whether the Personal Workshops are playing any role in here anymore though.

I also liked the inclusion of Sneakdoor, that's a great splash into Shaper. But the problem with Nasir is cheap ice like a Pop-up or an Ice Wall set up on the outside of a late-game scoring remote. Without the ability to nuke those smaller pieces of ice, Nasir's ability starts to work against him. The good news is that it's somewhat mitigated by the inclusion of Ghost Runner (I actually used to run Cache as well, and that made Aesop's even more attractive. But in my limited testing, I found I was usually pretty stretched for memory although that might change once Trade-In drops and I can find mem chips easier), but honestly, it's much easier to melt the troublesome ice with a one-off Parasite - and Datasucker essentially functions as another source of in-run economy.
