This deck causes more ragequits than my RP ones (?????)

KoRayven 137

This dumb jank has proven itself to be my most competitive deck yet, with a >70% winrate. It is also my most rage-inducing one so far... and I have no idea why.

It has the basic Jinteki asset spam net damage package. It's Palana and has the usual Palana econ package, so nothing surprising. Basic trap package, basic Jinteki agenda suite too, there's really nothing surprising here. And yet I have never had more games where the runner just ups and leaves without a word than when playing this deck. Is it the combination of all these parts that causes it? I haven't a clue.

Observation 1: This deck grinds the runner down through forced draw. It's weird but it works. Runners tend to commit to the install to avoid discarding cards, often dropping close to zero in the process, and allowing me scoring windows to work with. Sort of ike a self-inflicted DooF, maybe? Runners don't really ragequit at that point though.

Observation 2: I had a working theory that due to how much money runners had that the best chance I had to snipe important stuff was after forcing them to draw into said important stuff, which does happen (despite observation 1), but not with enough regularity as to explain the ragequits.

Observation 3: Endgame runner boardstates tend to be lackluster. There are still plenty of runners that end with good ending boardstates that ragequit so it's not that either.

Observation 4: The runner decisions in this deck need to be checked. Snares could be BEAs and Junebugs could be Virals. Runners can and have ragequited after choosing wrong but that's typical Jinteki stuff so it probably isn't that. The BEAs die in one turn anyway.

Observation 5: This deck causes a lot of unforced endgame errors. There are many games where this deck wins solely due to the runner making a clear and obvious blunder. They trash a card they shouldn't have while Hostile is up, they miscount their grip despite knowing I run Snare, Fetal. and Obo, they don't draw after a steal despite seeing my in-hand Puni (people have asked and yes, it's been worth it). This deck is mentally taxing, I guess? That's still standard Jinteki though.

Observation 5.5: Asset spam Agroplex is amazing. And runners just let me have it. That is all.

In summary, I don't get this deck nor people's reactions to it. It was supposed to be jenga'ed up jank. How is it my best deck to date? Why is it my best deck to date?

Here you go, @Diogene. I've played a few more games and my reaction now is that I'm even more confused by this deck.

"well I'm having fun"

I've always loved Punitive Palana builds and this seems fun. But why Distract the Masses rather than Genotyping and/or more Preemptive?

Looks like a fun list - what's your breakdown of kills vs scoring out? Any particularly bad matchups? Seems like a runner with good econ for dealing with assets wouldn't have too much trouble?

@KoRayven like we discussed, I do not really understand why there would be rage quit. This is all standard Jinteki faction stuff. Traps, trash cards, make life difficult for the runner.

That would be like complaining about NBN tag and bag, or Weyland kill combo or HB fast advance. This is netrunner, there are many archetype. Some will be bad matchup for the runner.

Of course, I think this list is actually competitive. So, a weak deck will get completely destroyed. And there are runner archetype that will suffer from this.

And there are so many more oppressive decks. Jinteki: Replicating Perfection seems to get a lot of hate. When all you need is a good econ engine.

@Xandorius I won against this deck by the skin of my teeth. But it was a good and intense game. I was using a modified version of Lat'n'rol deck.

People ragequit because Salvaged Memories fed people up quite quickly with horizontal prison decks. And I don't blame them. Still cool deck though!

If I'm remembering correctly, this deck ground out my 99 card MaxX deck and it was hilarious.

What about Komainu since the runner is going to be loaded with cards ??
