Chakanantics v1.0

paddosan 3413

Never seen Chakana played, and never actually thought about it myself, but considering there's been a predominance of NBN Fast Advance decks as of late (here in Italy, that is) I thought it might be worth using it.

Giving it a try in Anarch cause I was inspired by db0's Slowdown deck, but I chose to go with Noise since it's the identity of choice when handling large quantities of viruses.
Whizzard's recurring credits could help as well, but in this case it's better to force the Corp into protecting Archives as well, considering you have to aim for R&D here.

Surge is an obvious plus, giving you an immediate Chakana effect after just one run on R&D. If you manage to have The Source and a powered-up Chakana (or more than one), the Corp will be forced to flush the virus tokens. Just do it again, they can't purge them all the time.

Aw man...I just got my Kate deck tweaked, I just traded for an alternative art Gabe so I was going to run criminal too...now you post this deck with a noise chakana build I was going to "get around to making". Lol Thanks for the build. I'm going to drop one chakana for a professional contact but otherwise keep it the same. I might drop a the Source as well for a second PC. I think the draw will help and noise tends to run fine on a few creds so it will help buffer when you don't have, or opponent isn't being helpful with, Gorman drips.

Damn! Sorry J, my bad! :D

On a serious not though, good thinking with Professional Contacts... the lack of any form of draw engine kinda worries me. I'll have to test it first, but it might be a good idea to swap one of both the "advancement-slowers" for 2 copies of PC.

Still, I'm kinda curious to see 3 copies of Chakana in action. Madness!

I would actually keep all three the source and go -3 Gorman drip, -1 chakana, +2 PC, +1 Imp, +1 yog. I prefer a full suite of breakers available without AI. If you're not needing yog I would go +1 mimic instead. Rototurret, swordsman, caduceus, shadow (until too advanced but it should be parasite'd before then anyway), neural katana, muckraker all break to a basic mimic. A lot of other sentry ice only need one, maybe two, datasucker tokens to break. I like Gorman drip but I think this deck needs more consistent draw with PC and noise shouldn't be relying on his ability right now. If you trash a few cards, go ahead and run archives and hope they don't have a Jackson Howard installed. If they do they'll have to burn him to prevent you scoring agendas either way is a good.thing. You have enough viruses to use his ability but I would focus on IMP trashing combo pieces and economy.

Oh...also, three chakana would be cool but pointless. Unless you can run multiple times a turn easily your best action is to get one run and surge. That will force the corp into purging counters when it wants to advance whether it's FA style or not. All three would be cool but the end result is the same. Purge, advance next turn. You only have so many surges but the "the Source" will do a lot of the work initially the chakana will just make it stupid hard to ever advance before you can run in and only one is needed for that, two at most. :)

3 chakana is a waste of influence, only 1 works, increase your recursion and spend the influence on something every useful like rara. Djinn can tudor it (chakana) up instantly, deja vu recurses it right into your hand. Rara is a must in noise decks IMO because no faction installs as much as noise.

I've been tweaking an advancement denial deck quite similar to this one, and I like the idea. Out of reina, it might be just one more thing to choke the corp with, that extra advancement is a cost, in addition to having to rez to protect the remote too, I might try this out in the red queen....

Sahasrara could be useful, but it costs 2 influence as well, and economy shouldn't be a problem as it is, given the low cost of the programs. Having more than 1 Chakana installed could force a stalling situation, if I can have access to R&D easily or I have Surge in my hand. Parasite should be used primarily to remove the unwanted ICE from R&D to gain cheap access so as to run multiple times.

Any identity could work with Chakana/The Source, really... but with a different approach of course. You could go for resource & advancement denial with Reina, I'm sure it could work fine!

Played the deck with HepatitvsJ's adjustments. Found it very hard to get the breaker set complete.Guess I played too passive as well. By the time I felt comfortable running, it was iced up way to much!

Its amazing how efficient "The source" is and how little Chakana I use in the end. Kepping the first Astroscript from being scored, and being virus aggressive like old Noise is just too good. I'm almos going for a normal noise deck with only sources. Its freaking amazing.

I found Gorman Drip not really so helpful when it comes to economy, and 3 copies of Chakana / The Source are one too many, probably. Chakana proved quite useful, though: just need 1 run and a Surge.

I'll post an updated version of this deck soon, anyway.
