Chrome - 4-1 Montreal Online Tournament (4th Place overall)

FalseZero 3

Chrome, Mirrors, and a big ol' Gun Tommy gun

I Took inspiration from this deck from 5NOOP1's punitive mirrorporph deck here

The plan is pretty straight forward

  • Play a slow build up with taxing ice

  • Trigger Mirrormorph every turn you can

  • Use MCA austerity policy to slow the runner down/force them to run your remote

  • Be rich

  • If they steal a 5/3 kill them

  • If you can't kill them score out using scoring windows after they rush your remote to kill an MCA,

  • Or, if they dont kill the MCA, fast advance out your 5/3s and win.

I took this deck into the top 4 (16 player Montreal online Tournament) only to flood out in game 1 and get tunnel vision on an open R&D and Stargate and got Atlas Trained out by Titan with my VAL Swift deck.

Card Choices

Hyperloop extension - > Not sure about this one, could be a single 4/2 to free up a slot, but Hyperloop can give you the one point needed to score out without sacrificing any economy if you have a chance to score it early.

SSL -> Money=good, Runner stealing Agendas=good, therefore Money+Runner stealing agendas= 2(Good) . That's Math people...

Project Vacheron = Lets us land our kill package even if the runner is on game point

Red Level Clearance -> My favorite card in this deck, lets you cheat out an extra install and still get your mirrormorph credit/click

Scarcity -> I hate this F&*king card

SEA Source -> To kill Film critic, was an SIU but i swapped it last minute because its tutorable with Consulting Visit, Thats why im only at 14 inf.

Ice -> Only for taxing out the runner, the only straight ETR is Eli, everything else has at least a bit of teeth. The ice suite is there to keep the runner poor as possible, most of the ice i rez is more expensive to break than it was to rez (except for Fairchild 3.0 which is 5 to break with Engolo, 6 with most others iirc, but the facecheck is strong enough for it to make the cut)

--Round 1--

vs John on Haley (Off Campus) : Managed to score out, dragging him through taxing ice to trash MCAs and made enough scoring windows to slam 5/3s. and swept the round

--Round 2--

vs Patrick on Leela:

Quick kill with a SSL steal into Punitive - Consulting - Punitive. Val got herself murdered in a very quick punitive on the other side.

--Round 3 --

vs Vikk on 419:

Another quick one, Vikk stole an SSL on turn 1, ended with two cards in hand, Consulting -> Punitive... Feels bad

--Round 4 --

vs Steve R on Sunny:

Was worried about this one, Steve, the ringer from Chicago (j/k Steve jumped in last minute to round out our 15 participants to a nice 16, Big Props to Steve!) was undefeated up tp this point, and If I lost both, there was a pretty good chance that I would be pushed out of the top 4, and even if I split, I wasn't locked in to the top 4. Drew no ice in my opening hand, nor first draw, second turn lost an SSL off of R&D and landed a Punitive - Archive - Punitive after pulling 3 off of it.

Top 4 Round 1

--vs Oneiromancer -> Got Flooded (saw 6 of 8 agendas by turn 6, and the only econ i saw was an NGO which got trashed from R&D turn 1) and couldnt secure my servers from the Leela bounce (also im bad at the game and adv-adv-adv a 5/3 out forgetting about the Bounce, and My opponent took advantage of my mistake with a doof. Although I was one credit short of landing a turn 2 Punitive -> Consulting Visit -> Punitive after, you guessed it, an SSL steal off of R&D, oh well 3/5 'aint bad :)

All in all it was a great tournament, Thanks to Roberto for setting this up, and Andrej (of the Metropole Grid) for casting the event! it was a ton of fun and I can't wait for the next one!

How about Under the Bus instead of Sea Source?

I like it! Im just getting back into the game so I missed Reign and Reverie, didn't consider Under The Bus. Ill try it out, Didn't need the SEA source in the tournament, but I think its still necessary to have a answer for Film Critic

@FalseZeroglad I inspired you to this deck and congrats for the good performance. For my taste the ICE is to expensive as you often need to be able to double Punitive Counterstrike for the kill. Otherwise you are avoiding issues I had with the deck.

@5N00P1I agree, The Ice quite needs some work still. I feel like I could drop 2 x Hagen. Surveryor doesnt have much of a pay off (Net credit wise) unless there are 2 other ice on the server or they cant break it and have to spend 4 cred and 2 clicks to clear the tags. Not sure what Ill swap them out for while still having the 6 Weyland cards for Consulting visit.

@FalseZeroI like the Surveyor as with Jinja it's usually a cheap to rez while expensive to break ICE. I would more go for Fairchild 2.0, Vanilla and I love Slot Machine, but you have seen them all in my list.
