Austerity Calibration Sponsorship, First at Beyond the Board

Kalavouna 79

Corp deck I piloted during Swiss during the Store Championship at Beyond the Board in Columbus, Ohio. The tournament report will be at the end of the description.

Deck I've been messing around with on Jinteki. I feel like Estelle is a natural fit in ASA, since both work well with each other. Everything else is just based off of synergies between those two cards. . The deck doesn't have any particularly strong or weak matchups from what I can tell.

Game plan is fairly simple. Try to secure a early MCA, Estelle or Elective Upgrade and go from there. Ideally the first agenda is Elective, since it helps you score the next two. Or you can make a fairly taxing remote if you need to. Estelle draws you the agendas early if you need to rush out or will strongly encourage the Runner to go through a scoring remote if it's the late game. Team Sponsorship and Jeeves are about the only things I may leave out completely unprotected.

Tournament Report Runner deck I was playing was a Tag-Me Quetzal. Runner tournament report is in Runner deck List.

Round 1 (0-0): Played against Luke on Good Stuff Valencia. I don't remember too much from this game, apart from being nervous after we both got to five points and he had a strong economy and his breakers set up. Eventually I managed to win with a Elective Upgrade token.

Round 2 (6-0): Jasper was playing a Remote Lock Sunny. I got a early Estelle and scored a Vitruvius, followed by setting up an MCA. The MCA had three counters on it when Jasper was finally set up. I triggered MCA, scored a Elective using MCA and two Cali Testings. This triggered 2 Team Sponsorships, which I used to install another Vitruvius and a California Testing which I then scored with my remaining clicks. I don't think he was expecting this line of play.

Round 3 (12-0): Played against Micah, who drove 2 hours with me from Dayton and is my normal play testing partner. Micah was on a Lock Hayley. He had horrible luck and knowing what he was up to, I rushed out as quickly as possible.

Round 4 (18-0): Played against Joel who handed me my only losses of the day. He was playing a Good-Stuff CT deck. My fist hand had no ICE and 5 points, so I mulled into a hand with 7 points and no ICE. Fortunately it did have two Estelles and I drew a Marilyn, so I went full asset spam. He got a CST off of RND and set up. Eventually I scored both the Vitruvius and the Elective. While he had gotten the other Vitruvius. Unfortunately he was set up, so I drew heavily, hoping to find something I could score. The only agendas I saw were the other two Electives, which I kept in HQ, since he was now checking my remotes. Eventually he realized I hadn't scored anything in a while and legworked me, pulling a Elective.

The Cut. I ended Swiss at 18-6, good enough for second tied with 2 others. Joel took first by beating me. Unfortunately Micah came in 5th, just short of making the top cut.

Round 5: Playing against Chris, I got to choose which side I wanted, and I chose Corp. Chris plays in my local meta when he is home for school, so I felt that he might have a better idea on how to combat my Runner. He was playing a good stuff Wu deck. I got to a quick 5 points again. And just like in my previous games I managed to fast advance out the winning agenda.

Round 6: Courtland and I played in the final, since both of us had played Corp in the previous round, I chose Corp again against his Haley. (Turns out I made a poor decision later, as we discussed it and my Runner deck had a favorable matchup.) I started off getting a secured Estelle and MCA early, which became a Elective Upgrade. He continued to get set up but it was clear he was looking for something and having no luck. I set a second MCA up and popped it to score a CST. He got a clot out with sac con protection. However he was unable to get in the remote, so I scored it next turn. After purging through the sac cons and installing the miraju on R&D, it took about 5 turns before I finally found the winning agenda.

Overall, I was happy with the deck. Ash would be a good include, however I wasn't able to decide what to cut for it.

If you have any questions please feel free to ask.
