The Three Rs of Weyland Fast Advance

Tozar 696

The Three Rs (3Rs) in relation to Weyland fast advance are guiding principles for reducing the runner's funding, thereby creating resources and opportunities for gentrification. They were first described by in this original publication. The 3Rs are:

The 3Rs are designed to provide discouraged corporations with a means to combat the oppressive economic environment brought on by the Flashpoint event.

Decklist notes:

Since my previous publication, I made some pretty big changes (mostly just removing cards). With a slim 40 card deck, you are far more likely to see your cards when you need them. With any luck, you can close out a game in 10 or fewer turns or at least position yourself to Trick of Light and Project Atlas for the win.

This deck has gone through a lot of playtesting and I finally feel like it is competitive in the current meta. Having any more cards makes it harder to draw your economy and agendas and close out the game (there are very few viable transactions for this economy package), which led me to picking this ID for the low deck size. The ability to slap the runner's hand when they reach across the table is a bonus you can easily take advantage of with MCC.

When considering what ice to put in my deck I considered ice that could do the following:

  • Does the runner lose money when they facecheck it?
  • Can it be advanced?

Ice that does any of those things advances my gameplan. Veritas and mid-run MCC advancement counters (for triggering the ID ability) act as an excellent deterrent for run-based economy.

There are lots of great combo plays you can pull off and you have a good chance of drawing what you need to use them. A facedown MCC can open the window for a Bryan click with a Reversed Accounts in hand or a Hollywood Renovation score from hand with a Dedicated Ceremony.

I'm quite proud of what I've put together here. Please give it a shot if you are looking for a fun, competitive Weyland deck!

Always a fan of Weyland and good write-ups. Will take this deck for a spin!

This deck looks cool, I love the game plan and the absolute clarity of the deck choices to support it.

I understand and appreciate the merit of the argument for going less than 44 cards in this deck. But that doesn't mean you have to go all the way down to 40!

I read this list and I just can't shake the thought that another Dedication Ceremony would find good use, with Mumbad Construction Co and Reversed Accounts as absolute A+ targets. Also that 11 ice is really low to quickly get the job done, even out of 40 cards and when all you want is to single-ice each central and one remote, so surely one more Ice Wall would help?

Anyway, that's my 2c, I'd go to 42 cards for one more Ice Wall and Dedication Ceremony. I'll try it out and report back if I have any luck!

yay! Weyland FA :D Always glad to see some fellows :) I'm still on my Titan list - which also plays only 45 cards for the same reason: you are the one who dictates the tempo, why carry any additional stuff with you if there is no need for it. props up!

I played a few games of this. It is really fun, and I'm not usually a fan of fast advance.

I love the concept, very tight.

I've added a few more cards to fill it out and hot damn this deck is legitimately a threat! I need more practice but I'm sleeving this up for sure! Great work and wonderful concept! Bryan is definitely the lynchpin but not the only one.

I've been testing with Financial Collapse. It might have a home in this deck. It certainly makes for some interesting plays, especially when their only resources are economy. Would you like to keep your Temujin with 8 credits on it and risk giving me 15 credits? Do you really need that Aaron Marron? It gives you an opening for Bryan that doesn't require any board presence, which in some cases can be better than Reversed Accounts. Worst case you spend a click and tax the runner a bit.

I'm having trouble with econ to start. It seems like you need HF or Oaktown in your opening hand, and if you don't you'll be spending a lot of your clicks for credits. How do you fund your first score with minimal econ?

@PureFlight I've added GRNDL and another Dedication to assist with Econ. Very flexible.

@PureFlight I usually mulligan for Hedge Fund, but you're absolutely right. If the runner is raking in credits and you aren't drawing transactions it can be a real uphill battle. IPO is coming out soon, perhaps that will alleviate some of those problems. Also that new 'wonder' code gate can replace Datapike.
