Nintendo BrainQuest (Blood-Brain-Barrier)

StarlightCrusade 104

Inspired by the amazing synergy between Kakugo and Tori Hanzō, this deck allows the runner a choice:

One point and nine credits, or a brain damage?

Over and over and over again.

Yes, it's true. The combo costs 5 credits. At least. But the Ice is cheap. (Except when it's not.) But who's going to expect Jinteki to be running all barriers? And with our gifted Celebrity, Bryan Stinson, protected by something!, what can't we pay for?

Nor does the deck eschew Net Damage...After you score a House of Knives, a run on a Fetal AI behind Kakugo with this Jinteki: Personal Evolution, is 5 net damage.... or 4 with one brain damage if Tori Hanzō is involved.

Hope for early money. Get a Kakugo and Tori Hanzō on HQ, because your agendas will build up there, as well as in your "scoring server." Try to get the runner to get his brain fried on the Public Support behind Kakugo upgraded by Tori Hanzō not the agendas, although don't rule out trading points for brain damage either. You can bring it all back with Friends in High Places. Later in the game, you can use Genetics Pavilion to make Fetal AI, or maybe even just stealing regular old agendas, to be well-nigh impossible, or perhaps deliver the killing blow with Chairman Hiro.

I like it. Not the most competitive strategy ever (Hanzo decks sadly never are) but the idea is a splendid one.

I think PE itself doesn't lend itself all that well to asset spam however (also Philotic should always be an include), which is why I'd fine tune the deck further towards the strategy at hand.

Sundew seems like an odd include since you're not running any Upgrade traps, and ice are hard to come by as is with only 8 included, which will probably mean that you can't afford to put one on the Sundew most of the time.

Public Support might even be antisynergistic with PE. If you're truly intent on spamming assets this could be a fine brew in IG, but 9 influence on PS seems like a huge investment when you might as well be running a regular score plan.

I think there is a deck here, but at the moment the strategy is all over the place, and by choosing to play it honest you're forgoing the most fun aspects of the Jinteki faction, such as Mushin no Shin and advanceable traps.

I'll take the deck for a few spins though, to see what it can do. Props to you for trying this out.

Industrial Genomics: Growing Solutions is a great idea! Probably better than any of the other alternates that I thought of Jinteki: Replicating Perfection or Jinteki Biotech: Life Imagined. If you try the deck, let me know how it does. I'm in a part of the country where hardly anyone plays this game...so the number of people I can test things out against is very small.

I know this is horrible...but I hate playing traps. It gives over my control of the game to the runner's ability to guess what I'm doing. I know I know...this is Jinteki's bread and butter (Rice and tofu? :). I'm probably just not cut out for Jinteki.

It's even more for the Celebrity Gift. Ignoring all costs includes the additional action as well.

Oops....thought Celebrity Gift was a transaction. You're probably right then... Bryan Stinson should probably go. This might be the perfect place to put Crick.
