CI7: 1st Place, Level Up Games Store Championship

Ajar 1624

CI7 is one of my favourite Corp decks. I'm a little out of practice with it, but since it's positioned reasonably well in the meta I decided to play it anyway. I was previously on Scarcity of Resources and Quandaries, like most CI7 players, but with the printing of Violet Level Clearance I knew I had to fit it in. In addition, there are some dedicated Siphon Anarch players in my meta, so I was keen to get some Turings in the deck even if it meant a more expensive ice suite.

The final cut was Subliminal Messaging, on the advice of Dan D'Argenio, who is rarely wrong about what to slot in CI7. That allowed me to avoid d1en's unfortunate circumstance of winning a Store Champ with only two Hedge Funds in his deck. ;)

I like Curfew over Scarcity because it saves me a credit and, in the words of another player whose name escapes me right now, it removes the temptation to play it early. In this deck, your current is for clearing enemy currents, period.

Round 1, Andy: I mull no ice into no ice and get Siphoned. I recover a bit and get MoGo up on HQ, but he's got Medium and I spend too much recursion slowing him down while I dig for combo pieces. He wins before I can assemble the combo.

Round 2, Andy: I've got MoGo on HQ, but he's Medium digging. I've got well over 15 credits and three installables, but those installables are 2x GFI and one Jackson. I think about it and believe I see a line where I can go off with double Biotic Archived EffCom, but I'm wrong and brick the combo. Should have given him 2-3 more accesses (he was on 4 points), but somehow I thought I had it.

Round 3, Hayley Dyper: I score a naked Vitruvius while he sets up. He continues not running, so I make a remote with MoGo and IA EffCom even though there's a DDoS on the board. He leaves it, so I score it. He counts the cards in R&D and realizes he's 1 card short of an Equivocation mill, so he decides not to go off (presumably suspecting I have too many points in hand for an agenda win -- I had no ice on R&D or HQ). I install GFI, advance, Biotic, take EffCom clicks, Reclamation Order 2x Shipment from SanSan (pitched earlier while sculpting my hand) and score it to win. Achievement unlocked: beat Dyper with CI7!

Round 4, Hate Bear: I mull no ice 2 agendas into no ice 4 agendas 1 Jackson. I use the Jackson to clear, so I'm on the 2 pile combo plan; then he installs Hades Shard to slow me down even more. I weather 6 Siphons before he finds the win on R&D.

I'm 4th seed, but the 1st seed drops so I get bumped up to 3rd. The Hate Bear player is 2nd seed and gets to pick, so he picks Hate Bear. Joke's on him: I keep a hand of BLC + Turing, put the Turing on HQ, and draw cards until have 25 credits with 3 cards left in R&D. He's got 4 points, but it doesn't matter: I SfMM, then Diagnostics to hit the SfSS I know is left in R&D for the EffCom I just installed. 2 pile combo from there, since I have 3x SfK in hand and basically infinity credits.

Finals: MoGo on HQ denies accesses. I make money and sit around waiting to draw Shutdown with most of the agendas in my deck in hand. Eventually, after not finding any Siphons to go with the Femme he'd been keeping in hand, he sees Shutdown on R&D, realizes the game is over, and extends the hand. I show him the combo pieces (I have multiples of everything and 25+ credits) just to confirm the win.

I'm probably going to play this deck until it rotates. Most interesting deck in any card game I've played!
