Aggressive Marketing! (a.k.a. You're Gonna Buy A Sexbot)

Netrunner is a helluva thing, ladies and gentlemen. It is by far the only game I have played that allows you to openly question your opponent's sexual orientation, get away with it and even considers it a viable tactic. If this isn't a demoralizing move, then I don't know what is!

What does this character blabber about? Well, Spark Agency: Worldswide Reach makes your opponent lose his hard-earned cash the first time each turn you rez a card with Advertisement subtype. Why is that your opponent loses his hard-earned money? Well, maybe because we at Spark are so God-damn good at advertising things? We do it so deftly that people buy our stuff no matter what it is?

Say, Edward Kim, a guy with crazy pecs and a hate quest against everything android. Total full aggressive masculinity embodied into one crazed badass murder machine, he grabs his hammer and rushes towards you, his intent clear. Then you rez Adonis Campaign and you are, like, "Hey man, wanna buy our male sexbot model, Adonis MK III? It has many additional functions for your own pleasure!". Kim stops, eyeing you from head to toe, puzzled. Then he gives you his credstick, takes said Adonis MK III under his armpit and goes back home... Either to hatef@#k his new addition or ponder what the actual heck is he doing with his life. Congratulations - you just took a man, you challenged his innermost self and broke it to tiny pieces.


Aggressive Marketing has a simple aim - destroy econ (by rezzing ads and sticking the Tollbooth to them), somehow manage to either win by scoring agendas, or score Restructured Datapool (Red Herrings will help there a lot, given you actually manage to cause some serious econ disturbance), then send lots of tags and get in for the kill.

If you find econ-disruption too tough, you can always fire 24/7 News Cycle to trigger Breaking News you scored earlier (fun fact - tags stuck this way don't wear down with the end of the turn since the other ability of Breaking News doesn't get to fire!), then Close some Accounts and burn their social life to the bare ground. Or their house, that works too.

If you ever get the chance to do so, remember to rez at least one of your cheap Ads in your very first turn, and another one immediately following the start of Runner's turn. In this instance, before every econ engine gets running, time is really money - two creds are two clicks, which effectively lets you cut Runner's first turn in half!

There are some possible shenanigans with Red Herrings or 15 Minutes - and Franchise City. In the first instance you get points while Runner doesn't and in second both you and the Runner get some, but you can steal it back later. And FC can either be used to 24/7 something you need more of or give you these single points you are away from winning the match.

Rezzing lots of Ads while simultaneously hindering Runner's econ will easily let you set up your own. Use the hard-earned credits to bring it all back to life for a second cycle with Ad Blitz! And if you are scoring any agendas right from your hand, don't forget to rez Team Sponsorship for more fun with recursion.

That way or another, fellas - the awesome world of advertisements lies open before you. Now, WHO WANTS SOME F@#$ING NESQUIK?!

It might seem that way, but with proper deployment of assets you can negate any profit siphoneer would have.
