Shock Therapy

BeermanBarman 14

Welcome to Chronos Protocol, we hope you enjoy your stay!

With big props to @Shockeh for his Chronomatic Chivalry, and @HopelessHeretic's Barrier Bay for inspiration.

In much the same fashion, the goal of the deck is to snipe breakers out of hand, off the table, and hopefully put them out of reach forever so you can score with impunity.

My innovations are as follows:

Mushin No Shin in a starting hand can help you make a fast start and never look back. Scoring a House of Knives early will help you get your mind mapping going early and often. Getting a Profiteering first thing can give you enough economy to last damn near the whole game, and bad publicity is nearly neutered if they can't even break your ice.

Mental Health Clinic, presents the runner with a lose/lose situation. They can either take a tempo hit to deny me a credit and shrink their hand size, or let it slide and give me good drip economy and a bigger selection of cards to trash (provided they use the extra hand size, and why wouldn't you?).

Problems this deck might have: Getting milled to pieces! Dropping Data Mine for Crick as soon as I get Breaker Bay seems like a no brainer. Finding room for The All-Seeing I, Team Sponsorship, or even Architect might go a long way.

Surprise bypasses could be problematic here, and I'd be a little bummed if I had to use Power Shutdown on a Femme Fatale.

Isn't MHC and Profiteering kind of anti-synergy? I would pretty much always hit an MHC against Chronos as the + Hand Size is actually a bad thing.

Also I have had a great time with Shi Kyu in Chronos. Chronos can just bid 1 on Shi Kyu and make the runner agonize. Is losing the best card in hand worth -1 agenda point?

I suppose it's true that any bad pub can be used to trash the clinics, that's true. They could be protected effectively with one ice, but then that's one less ice to go around. My experience thus far is that the runner won't want to fuck with them, but perhaps they'd be better served as Sundews. The idea of a Sundew with a Data Mine over the top makes me smile.

Perhaps the agendas should be re-ginned as 3x TFP, 3x HoK, 2x Chronos Project, 3x #Medical Breakthrough, to add some pace and score out faster.

Shi.Kyū certainly crossed my mind, and having it in addition to Shock! would provide more protection from big digs.

Shi.Kyu doesn't actually protect against deep digs. It only triggers from hand, remotes, or archives.

Scoring out it probably the hardest part of playing CP. I typically find myself poor and with too many tiny agendas in my hand or rich and with a runner who I cannot land some program destruction against. Running more than three one pointers is usually not that great for me as I find I don't have the money to score and don't have as many precious deck slots. Also if I was going to pack Shi.Kyu and one pointers, I would consider either PE and/or Philotic.

I haven't tried Medical Research yet and maybe that is the way to go. I am tempted to try Braintrust just to get a 2/3 in the deck to facilitate some easier scores.
