Icicleteki 1.1

desertfox42 9

Gameplan: Score an early HoK and set up econ, then glacier out two 3 pointers. ("Icicleteki" = glacier+net damage+jinteki)

Agendas: HoK is bonkers with this ID, so I started with three and haven't looked back. Global Food Initiative means we need three scores to win and the runner likely needs four. Fetal AI is something we never intend to score (just remember it doesn't fire from archives!).

Economy: The RP package. I kept Sundew over Pads because even though the runner can run click 1, they often don't want to run at all (HoK, EMPs, mystery ice/no insta-tutor).

Ice: Similar to the RP package, but with some differences. Several ice are made much better by our ID, so they get the nod: Yagura, Cortex, Swordsman, and Wall of Thorns. Wraparound is there to help rush the HoK, protect early Sundew play, hurt Noise if you snipe D4vids, and further tax barrier recursion vs Kate.

Summary: This is basically just RP, but you tax their card quality instead of their clicks. Your late game remote plays are weaker due to no Nisei II/RP and you don't have Ichi/Batty shenanigans to just oops-win. But what I feel you gain is a stronger early/mid game relative to a pre-Nisei RP deck, forcing the runner to slow down their game and let you score a bit quicker. Would like to fit an interns in though.

Let me know what you think!

I find it really worthwhile to slot 3x Shock! into Chronos Protocol. You've got a lot of ICE; you could probably find room there. I also agree with the Interns. It would be really nice to find room for one.

It might be worthwhile to go to 2x Eli 1.0, 2x Wraparound just to get that first HoK out a little more reliably. This is just guesswork though.

Agree with FarCry about them Shocks. I run 3 of them in my CP deck, and they're very annoying to runners. You may even get to snipe a Film Critic if they're not careful! :P

I'd love to have shocks, absolutely. But what to cut?

I would cut the first three pieces of ICE that fail to live up to your expectations. 16 ICE seems like enough here.

I'm really hesitant to cut out ice since I feel I need more to make up for lack of Nisei/RP. I could drop the Wall of Thorns and an EMP for 2x shock perhaps? EMPs vs shocks fulfill a similar role, so I view their slots as almost interchangeable.

Neural EMP and Shock definitely aren't interchangeable for one significant reason: they fire on different turns. CP can snipe a card both on the runner turn and the corp turn; the EMP + Shock combo lets you capitalize on this while offering central server protection.

Fair enough. I guess I viewed my HoK + net damage ice + fetal as enough sources of net on the runner turn, but maybe I need more. 3x EMP is my only option for net on corp turn, so I would really like to keep those puppies.

Which ice do you feel like I can do without here? I really love all the ice I've got at the moment :/

Fetal AI is likely only going to trigger once. The inclusion makes sense but Shock seems more reliable.

ICE to cut... let's see. My instincts say one each Pup, Yagura and Eli 1.0. This preserves your ICE balance, and leaves you with a final point of influence to go up to 3x Global Food Initiative and get rid of the Fetal AI, which is a much better scoring suite. You could use the influence for literally anything else, but I like the rest of your list and if you are switching to Shock this feels like a good choice to me.
