Silhouette and Her Phonebook

Unguarded 28

Hello all.

For the purposes of this deck, the card Access to GlobalSec is the new criminal card Rolodex.

This is a test idea for the combo of Rolodex + Oracle May. With a 40 card deck, 3 rolodexes (rolodexi?) will allow you to see 15 cards of your deck, which including the 5 in your starting hand will allow you to consistently organize half your deck and make your oracle may calls.

All feedback is appreciated.

This looks like a fun deck to play!

This is a fun idea. Remembering which-card is which-type is the big deal, as this deck plays a memory game in trying to force-rez the right cards based on the ICE / Cards exposed :) Underway Renovation is the card you should fear in this instance for screwing with your memory, and with no means of recursion it may be very dangerous to play Rolodex as you could hemorage cards if it gets trashed or you get an Oracle May draw wrong - but this is worst case scenario, and is still worth a play.

One of my favourite pairings with Oracle May is Motivation, seeing as you can only use May once per turn. Influence is obviously the big thing, but I honestly I think Liberated Account can go entirely, you're a criminal, Security Testing and Dirty Laundry are also great pairings. I know you need to gain money for / recover after a Blackguard installation, but there are other means; I personally used Magnum Opus, but for you it'd be better to find something in-faction. If you're relying on Eureka! to get your Blackguard out then your tempo could be stunted with Motivation, since you wouldn't want to draw more than 1 card per turn for fear of drawing into Blackguard.

Click compression is a very important thing these days, and the more you can get out of your clicks, the better. I feel Career Fair might just be there to offset the cost of Liberated Account, or make your Daily Casts free - consider replacing them with Dirty Laundry, or Feint to beautifully synergise with Silhouette: Stealth Operative's ability, and is dangerous if you have Snitch out.

If you're wanting to be particularly evil, consider Hacktivist Meeting; if that is on the board and you Drive By a card, say, SanSan City Grid, Blackguard will recognise the SanSan is being exposed by Drive-by, force the corp to rez it, Hacktivist Meeting recognises a non-ice rez, trashing a random card from HQ, then Drive-by finishes by trashing the SanSan.

The more Silhouette forces the corp to ICE up, the better Blackguard can keep the corp poor by rezing the wrong ICE and the wrong time. Have fun and please let us know how you get on. :)

@Mechanoise Thank you very much for the comprehensive feedback. I wanted to use Rolodex over Motivation partially for casual shenanigans, such as getting to say "Oh wow, you're gonna be upset at this card next turn."

Does Feint combo with Snitch? I'm no expert in run timing, but would I play feint, approach the ice, expose it, force the rez, and then bypass it for free?

I think I'll trade the Career Fairs + Casts + Accounts for Mopus. Is it worth it for me to double up on the Eureka! and switch the Ninjas for Garrotes? I think the consistent income from Mopus will make it worth it.

Also holy crap, I didn't consider the implications of hacktivist meeting. What do you think I should scrap for the influence?

Memory is going to be tight running Garrote and Mopus, which means you need the Guard out sooner. And that many high cost cards without cheats is going to take time to drop and recover even with Opus.

@Mechanoise That Hacktivist Meeting + Blackguard combo doesn't work. The corp may choose not to pay additional costs, preventing the rez. Check out the ruling on Blackguard and Archer

@krystman Ahhhhh....that's really interesting - yes, I see. Only re-reading the card do I notice that Hacktivist Meeting states the HQ Card Trash is a 'Additional Cost' result, as opposed to a 'Penalty'. My bad, then yes, they can just deny that additional cost and it doesn't work.

@Unguarded First off, @krystman revealed a good point about Hacktivist Meeting's "additional cost" text, which doesn't combo with Blackguard as the corp can deny paying additional costs, which is a bummer, so apologies for sending you down impossible lane.

Feint will combo with Snitch just fine, as Blackguard will force the card rez, (if eligible), and you immediately bypass it onto the next one. Remember that Snitch only works once per run, but if you had two snitches running in your rig then you could expose both cards during your Feint run, (one Snitch for each ice), but I wouldn't recommend it. The great thing about Feint is if you do access HQ you get another exposure as part of your ability, which will hurt, but it might be worth only running 1 to test it.

As for money, I wouldn't bother with Magnum Opus - You're running a different set of breakers to me, so why don't you think about Security Testing to make a point you will be running often, and if they decide to ICE up any server you intend to run then you will punish them by exposing it. There are a number of options, but without pruning your breakers I'd avoid the memory-hungry Magnum Opus.

If you are going to bombard HQ, and you're not worried about memory - Sneakdoor Beta is always welcome.

Bombarding HQ is a blast with HQ Interface and Gang Sign. The corp doesnt know whether to score an agenda if they have others in their hand
