Newbie Noise deck - please help!

GigEmLandon 2

Need help. I'm still pretty new to the game, but I love playing as Noise, and I'd like to build a deck somewhere in between Pacer Stringfellow's Tulsa 2015 Pancake Noise deck and Tyrellian's Can O' Whupass deck, so heavy virus, heavy milling, but still with a decent running capability. I realize trying to balance those two might not make the most effective deck, but I'd like it to also be fun to play.

So, I really need help paring this down to 45-47 cards, and really just any pointers on how to play this deck effectively. Some cards may be no-brainer removals for y'all that I just included because I either a) think they're badass or b) have enjoyed using them in the past, so feel free to be as blunt as necessary.

Thanks y'all!

-3x Chakana -3x Virus Breeding Ground -3x Day Job -2x Crypsis -1x Incubator -1x Medium -2x I've Had Worse -1x Hemorrhage -3x Progenitor -1x Lamprey +1x Gorman Drip v1 +3x Cache +2x Clone Chip +2x Mimic

You're not going to be running often, Chakanas, Hemorrhage are useless until lategame where Hivemind is full. Cache + Clone Chips are Noise's most important cards. Day Job is a tempo killer, just work with Cache + Pawnshop. Had worse is not so good since you run Wyldside. Viruses can be tutored with Djinn, so you can go 1x each one. Crypsis is a tempo killer and you have Darwin to work with Hivemind. Progenitor saves just one virus token...I'm not convinced it's a good card to slot 3of, not even 1of. All this to go down to 46 cards. Cut another Daily Casts, to go down to 45.

Hey Trypios is being a bit drastic with his changes. Don't worry about a lot of that. Progenitor is needed for a Hivemind deck as Virus Breeding Ground can only put counters on cards with at least one virus counter on it. If the corp purges and Hivemind isn't on Progenitor, then you can't fill it up with Virus Breeding Ground. On the other hand, he is right about Crypsis and Cache. Let's start over from the Can o' Whupass build and we'll add in Pancake stuff till we meet in the middle.

-3 Earthrise Hotel, +2 Adjusted Chronotype

That's putting the Pancakes in. Good job. Now for the "spirit" of the pancakes deck: what does it want to do?

-1 Gravedigger, -1 I've Had Worse, -2 Progenitor, -1 Chakana, -1 Virus Breeding Grounds, +3 Parasite, +2 Clone Chip, +2 Lamprey

Whereas our original did very, very few runs, Pancakes removes troublesome ice with 3x Parasites. That means you could drain the corp credits by destroying all of their HQ ice and using Lamprey, or make a huge series of Medium digs after clearing away the ice there. A big part of this is recursion, but unfortunately we can't afford any more clone chips because of the Chakana.

Yikes, that's a lot of 1 offs we have now. Keeping any deck in Netrunner down to 45 cards is necessary but really difficult. It's important to know your deck's weaknesses: here, it's that we're really relying on Djinn's tutoring ability to find all our viruses.

Truthfully, this makes our deck worse at being a slow, precise Hivemind deck and worse at being an aggressive, destructive Pancakes deck. But maybe you can find that middle ground and play to your opponent's weaknesses, sitting back when their ice is resistant to parasites and clearing their board if they try to set up weak ice aggressively.

@RubbishyUsername Progenitor is Daemon, not virus so a 1of is not a good choice if you really want Hivemind on it, as it cannot be tutored with Djinn. I also never played against a good Noise player with Progenitor. Can o whupass style decks are not good hence I'm not convinced about that card.

Best Noise players I was unfortunate to play against to, can mill a lot with just 3x Parasites, 3x Cache, 3x Déjà Vu and 3x Clone Chips. All that incubator - hivemind - progenitor stuff are kinda janky. I like all that for a casual game, but try that against RP or NEH in a tournament...

Lastly...don't try to go for middle grounds and double strategies! IME that doesn't work, choose one and stick to it with all the strong cards around it. I see people play NEH with 2x Scorched Earth and 1x Biotic Labor and Psychographics....either go kill, or astrobiotic.

So, my advice is...go aggro (pancake) or control (whupass).

Oh, good catch on the Progenitor. Hmmm, this deck won't work without getting one, so it has to go back up to 3 copies... -1 Lamprey, -1 Daily Casts, +2 Progenitor?

Yeah, I would 100% agree that Chakana is kind of Janky and you are 100% right about mixed up strategy. But this guy isn't entering a tournament any time soon, so why would he need to play a top deck? If he wanted to play the best Noise standard Noise deck out there, it's definitely a form of Pancakes Noiseshop. He has a list already - Pacer's. But if he wants to mix it up, dabble in deckbuilding, then this is just what I'd reccomend.
