Knightman!

djackman 982

Atman/parasite recursion suite. Burst econ paired with ProCon. Knight as a supporting breaker that will get you into a central no matter what, making it harder for the corp to lock you out of sucker counters, and encouraging the corp to trash ice when used early, which synergizes well with parasite.

Its bustin' skulls. Try it out!

Really nice!

I run a very similar thing with -1 Parasite -3 Test Run -1 R&D +2 Stimhack + 2 Maker's eye +1 Escher. Looks good!

Yeah. Test run is a holdover to some degree of when Femme used to be in the deck. I'll probably go down to 2, but test run is still a good way to recur parasite, and has good targets with pulling additional knights at the right time. a singleton escher would probably be good.

I cut makers eye for Infiltration, which is too critical in the NBN/Jinteki matchups nowadays.

Either that or cutting a knight or parasite for 1x stimhack 1x femme and keeping the test runs at 3. Its still in testing, so I'll keep your suggestions in mind during league- seems solid.

Very interesting deck but don't use maker's eye with your R&D interface. It's a suicide run ^^ against Snare and Shock. Use indexing, it's free points.

Indexing requires two runs and can fail pretty hard to jackson. Makers isn't for the jinteki matchup, anyway. With net shield I have zero issues beating jinteki.

@Code, exactly, haha.

Very interesting. I've been looking around for decks that really make Knight shine...

Quite honestly, I think knight is one of the best cards released for anarch in a long time.

It helps to mitigate one of anarchs biggest weaknesses - early game remote pressure. It serves as a repeatable inside job, albeit more click and credit intensive.

Also, a knight is usually trashed eventually. This can play well with decks that run parasite, and want to run aggressively.

This deck originally ran grimoire, but I always thought it was rather lackluster - it was still good in certain situations, but you didnt always need +1 MU, let alone +2, so Akamatsu can fill the same role and do it for cheaper, both credits and influence wise.

Grimoire was critical in mid/late game situations where they have iced all centrals and clear suckers. It allows that little extra boost of sucker/parasite counters that let you keep on pressure.

Knight does the same thing by allowing you to get into a central to get sucker counters, but unlike grimoire, it also encourages an ice destruction theme, isn't bad in multiples, and can just get you in when you absolutely need to.

I think the biggest weakness of the whole katman/parasite archetype is twofold:

  1. sometimes, you dont have a good way to just use bucks to bust into a server. Knight serves as a way to throw credits at the corp and keep pressure on, as well as serving as a generally good card, that can deal with almost any ice.

  2. early game. This deck runs a lot of slow burn econ, mostly in the form of casts and contacts. These are great cards, but the very act of playing them can open up scoring windows for the corp. With knight in the deck, troublesome corps like NBN will regret trying to score on turn 1 or 2, since usually you can just install knight, move knight, run. If you've got at least 3 credits, you'll almost always get in.

Similar to mine Atman/Femme Fatale http://netrunnerdb.com/en/decklist/2145/femme-fatale-atman-recursion-iii . I preferred it to Knight due to the extra click spent to set up the icebreaker.

Femme and Knight arent really the same thing at all, though. Femme is great, dont get me wrong, but you cant change what ice you are bypassing, whereas knight can move. Femme costs 9 credits to install, knight costs 2.

you can with Scavenge, which he uses

13 Feb 2014 djackman

I understand the test run/scavenge combo, but you do see there is inherent value in not needing to combo, right? That speaks more to the value of test run than anything else, i think.

Recent changes:

-1 Knight (I have found that 1 is usually enough, and can be recurred if needed via test run and clone chip. The right call might be to lose a parasite instead of a knight - still testing

-1 Atman - 3 is overkill, and i find myself with an atman dead in my hand more often than I'd like.

+1 Femme (femme is awesome as a 1-off, esp when running 3 test run already)

+1 mimic -can be rather critical in sentry heavy matches, like supermodernism weyland and NBN rush- draco and caduceus can cause big issues for this list.

This makes my heavy tutor suite more powerful by making tutors much more versatile.

-1 Daily, -1 Dirty Laundry +2 Katie

Econ is a problem with this deck.

What do you think about CyberSolutions Mem Chip over Akamatsu? 3c for +2 MU seems like it would be pretty helpful for keeping SMCs up along with Datasucker / Knight / Parasite / Atman.

24 Feb 2014 djackman

I think its overkill for the current list. That said, it would allow you to run magnum opus, which could save you a lot of econ card slots. That would take a complete revamping of the design, but could certainly be worth it.

25 Feb 2014 Ajar

I might look at that. With Fear and Loathing out, I also think it's worth including a single Inti to deal with Wraparound. Knight breaks Wraparound, but if there are a couple of Wraparounds on the board, it gets troublesome.

27 Feb 2014 djackman

I like the idea of a single Inti, and I actually like the idea of MO, the more I think about it. I dont think this deck is T1 - its too slow on certain draws.

Ive had success with Noise parasite recursion where the idea was to get MO + Djinn out and just click for money tutor, and run every turn. It was pretty awesome - I bet something similar would do fine in Kate.

I thought your posts over and brewed up a version of this:

I think it'll be pretty fun to play.
