Scalpel

pbrand 272

This deck has been prepared for Chrome City, but does not yet use the set's cards itself (Ryon Knight might be a good fit.) Inevitably there will be fresh young runners giddy to try out Skulljack and Brain Cage without associated Chrome Parlors, so be sure to make them squirm with Sentinel Defense Program.

The objective of the deck is simple: bait the runner into runs in which they barely have enough money to crack open the server, then use The Twins (triggered by The Foundry) to surprise them. The best way to do this is through brain damage. Trigger the Twins on Viktor, Fenris, and for fireworks a Priority Requisitioned Janus. Then use Architect, Archived Memories, and Vitruvius tokens to ensure you have that lost key piece of ice for another Twins trigger on another run.

The secondary and less reliable method of brain damage is using Hanzo and Swordsman. This can be done early in the game to punish a greedy facechecker with just Hanzo and Swordsman in a server. If they don't run, that's fine! Slap an agenda like Sentinel Defense Program in there for later.

Be sure to remove all the brain you can with your scalpel. If you want to experiment with other types of ICE, the best way to do it is to remove some of the existing ice from 3x to 2x. The Foundry will grant you your second copy and can be recurred later, but 3x gives consistency. Good luck, surgeon!

Just starting a Foundry binge myself; nice to see some more decks about.

Given your stated aim of stabbing, Self-Destruct Chips would seem like a fantastic shout. I'm not sure about Corporate War here, as you would need a fair old whack of money to get it to fire.

No Accelerated Beta Test? Madness! There isn't a downside to it in The Foundry unless you fail to hit ICE with all three.

The Tori Hanzō Swordsman combo needs a long, hard look. Swordsman is an inefficient source of net damage, as it can be broken for 2 by every common sentry breaker and you have no STR pumps. Using The Twins on it is hardly a tax for the runner. A good 1-influence alternative is Merlin, which risks flatlining an unprepared runner with The Twins. For the same cost as rezzing Swordsman and Tori Hanzō it can do 4 Net instead of one Brain.

I think Janus 1.0 might be too pricey for the deck. Brutal if you land it, but I imagine it's difficult to get that much money. How are you finding Blue Level Clearance? I got a bit annoyed with how slow it was.

As a left-field suggestion, you could swap the Tori Hanzōs for Snare!. They get so much deadlier the more brain damage you inflict, and that would free up a lot of influence. I'd also try to work in some more actual sources of brain damage as opposed to situational ones like the Jinteki combo you have. There are 7 brain damage ICE in HB, and you're only using 3.

Also, look out for the release of Defective Brainchips, which obviates the need for the Sentinel Defense Program. More Jackson Howard is always good, too, especially as you will be discarding ICE to The Twins.

But I think the plan is solid, and I bet it's so much fun when it pays off! If you get a chance, I wouldn't mind a fresh pair of eyes to look over my similar effort.

Hope that helps hone the scalpel!
