Grad Student (v.0.2)

NOTE: These notes are from my first draft. I'll update them when I'm happy with the final version. I'm leaving the flavor because I like it, even though I've made it obsolete by removing all the cards it references. :(

"Genetic modifications have their perks - like not needing much sleep, in the case of UCBB PhD Candidate Hayley Kaplan. A typical day for this Early Bird means making some Test Runs with her Modded rig before shuffling off to her Day Job - while still having the energy to chug some Diesel and head to the Levy AR Lab to work on that thesis."

  • Replicator finally gets a chance to shine! Install a Replicator, use its ability to search for another copy, use Hayley's ID ability to immediately install a second replicator, and then pull your third replicator out to reduce your decksize. Trade-In (for free) for a Comet, PPVP, or RDI and to install your traded-in hardware and pull a second copy. If you can pull this off in your opening hand along with a Sure Gamble/Dirty Laundry, you'll have a fully-funded Prepaid rig on turn 1. Hot.

  • Comet gives Hayley the Criminal speed you want without sacrificing all of the Shaper recursion nonsense you've come to know and love. Comet lets you Test Run or Modded to install a program/hardware and then immediately install another program/hardware AND play an event. If you've used Modded, you ALSO get to pull the Replicator copy of whatever you installed to guarantee both of your abilities see use.

  • I used to believe that the influence here is flexible, but I much prefer this configuration. Garrote is justification for having Test Run and Scavenge available, so if you take that out you're going to need to re-balance toward cheap-o breakers and taking those events out.

  • I think this deck is efficient enough to afford more than the minimum number of cards. Once Replicator is up and running, you're pulling things out of your deck and onto the table pretty rapidly - it's amazing how quickly this deck thins out. Obviously you'll want to focus on hardware to keep the Replicator good-times rolling. I like having as few programs/resources as possible.
