Peckish Max (2nd Place Critical Hit Tournament in Cleveland)

Fricassee 109

Went 7-2 with this deck at store championships, only dropping games to the NEH deck that one the tournament. Built based off of the "I prepaid for this ********* event" and the "Blitzkreig Bop 1.2" decks, with minor changes.

Opponents: Titan FA (twice), Tennin FA, NEH (twice, both losses), Argus Supermodernism, RP (Twice), Titan (probably FA)

Key cards:

Vamp : This card lead to wins in 4 of my games. The amount of work it does in a prepaid deck with event economy is outstanding. Using it to prevent the rezzing of ice for keyhole runs, or draining the corp of credits to win psi games feels really good. I don't think I missed Account Siphon with these around.

Torch / Morningstar : The regular breakers were really useful. Against RP, I ended up running a Torch Morningstar Mimic suite that let me get in everywhere for crazy cheap. In games where eater wasn't ideal, I was still able to make things work.

Congrats on 2nd place! Wish I could have had the chance to play you - this deck would have been fun to see in action.

Congrats on the finish. I like your choice of breaker suite. How good was vigil? Singularity? Do prepaid voicepad credits work with vamp? Did you test with inject? If you had to cut 2 cards, what would they be? Have you considered adding Imp to improve the NEH match-up?

@duk I was not really impressed with Vigil. As MaxX, it's hard to get stuff sometimes, and I only really got it running consistently twice. Card draw is amazing, but I feel I'm pressed for memory, which makes me lean towards Grimoire.

I think I only played Singularity once, and it ended up getting shut down (but did cost credits). I think with this deck and breaker suite, I could do without it. But I didn't run into any Ash 2X3ZB9CY so that could make it better.

Prepaid only works for playing, not for using actions, so it doesn't work with Vamp. But it doesn't stop it from powering our event economy, making Wantons and cutlery essentially free, and getting you surprise credits from Lucky Find.

I didn't test with Inject, but I feel like I wasn't wanting for cards in all but one game. Might be worthwhile though.

If I had to cut two cards, it would probably be Singularity and possibly Yog.0. I think this might work without #Eater, but it gives you the ability to run hard without breakers. Possibly an I've Had Worse if there's not much Weyland Kill in your meta.

I think adding a Medium or Imp would improve the match up. Not being able to deep dig made it hard, since I couldn't actually lock R&D.

Thinking about it more, Singularity does a good job against PE, when they're threatening a double Ronin that can also be a Cerebral Overwriter. I didn't play against any PE at the tournament, which could have affected my play style.

I added the decks I played against to the original description.
