Valencia Goes Monstering!

This is the Valencia Deck that I've been playing around with since O&C came out. It's gone through a bunch of iterations especially when it comes to the economy package. I've messed around with Kati Jones and Queen's Gambit, but this version is the one I've been the happiest about. I will say that if NEH or PE is big in your meta Queen's Gambit is amazing. I would easily consider replacing the Liberated Account for them. Right now, my meta is full of Weyland and let me tell you, triple advancing someone's Project Atlas is the worst feeling in the world.

Breaker-wise, everything is really efficient, and with 2 or 3 bad pub chances are you'll be able to get wherever you want to go repeatedly. Datasucker and fixed strength breakers are Datasucker and fixed strength breakers. Atman will almost always be set to 4 to protect from Lotus Field. Knight is way better with Bad Pub to reduce the break cost. D4v1d is excellent against the new Cosmic Ice as well as anything else large you might run into. This deck is amazing against small ETR based ice as it becomes really hard to keep you from Medium digging.

I've included a couple Bad Pub combo pieces as I've found them to be pretty effective. Itinerant Protesters is amazing if you can land even 1 more bad publicity and only gets better from there. It's particularly good with all of the Weyland hype right now as Hostile Takeover just helps your game plan even more. The deck can work without the bad pub, but it's definitely less happy than if you've got it. To that end, I'm debating dropping one of the Investigative Journalism for a Frame Job just to be able to turn the BP back on.

I think the deck is pretty solidly at least Tier 2. I don't know if it's consistently fast enough to beat NEH, but the BP and Medium does a lot of work in that matchup. Blackmail and Bad Publicity give it a pretty good game against glacier decks. Of special note is RP where your Bad Publicity will often let you bounce off their taxing central ice when you're going for a Remote Run as well as helping to trash all of the assets. Blue Sun is a little rough as you can't rely on Knight or Parasite to get you through their large ice. D4v1d does a lot of work in that matchup, but it can definitely be a rough game.

Love the Transmetropolitan reference.

"Come on, it's time for some serious journalism." "Does this mean we stop committing crimes?" "Hell no! It means we start committing the really GOOD crimes!"

Haha, my dream would be a runner that looks even vaguely like Spider Jerusalem. I don't think I would be able to play anything else.

@Tr33beard Hey man, nice deck. From iur comment on mine and your list, I can see that you highly value your economy. A couple questions that I do have is why do you choose to not run same old thing, and how much economy is enough in a valencia deck?

Also I was just wondering why you dropped kati jones, as she still seems like a pretty solid choice.

I tend to find that having both Kati Jones and Day Job is a little too click intensive and that I wanted to go with one or the other. I like the burstiness of Day Job/I wanted to play with the shiny new card. I think Kati works just fine for Econ as well. I might honestly go back to her once the new card smell wears off of Day Job as Kati is more sustainable.

I think that having 12-15 econ cards is what you want in any runner deck. Right now I've got 13 if you count Investigative Journalism, which I do. I still worry in the back of my mind that there's not enough money in the deck, but haven't run into that situation terribly often.

As for Same Old Thing, I ran out of deck space and didn't feel like I had enough events besides Blackmail that I would want to recur.

@Tr33beard Alright then. One last thing (sorry for poking in your head so much), how has inject been working out for you? I don't run it mainly as I'm afraid to trash key programs, and our builds only do run 3 clone chips.

I've mostly been loving it. I run a duplicate of almost everything, and Clone Chip lets me use Bad Pub credits to install things from the trash if I do hit something I wanted. Maybe once have I injected and been supremely sad and that was because it hit both Self-modifying Code. I think the benefit is undoubtedly worth the risk.

I feel like Kati is for those times you have clicks to spare and Day Job for just hard cash now. Kati is banking money while spending the rest on setup, then you pull to start making runs. On the other hand, DJ does make Liberated more functional from low creds.

Arguably Deja is a worthwhile recurse for anything that you tossed that ran out.

I really like this deck, but I have two concerns. Your econ is all temporary. Do you think that Kati Jones is necessary for longer games against glacier decks?

Secondly, you only have two Blackmail in a fifty card deck without SOT for recursion. What would you take out if you wanted to go more in that direction?

Finally, I wonder if this ID could be tier one after clot comes out, which will help against NEH.
