A Spoonful of Stealth

BTrain 2971

Makes the servers go down.

Kit's got a light loadout, but she can pack just the right medicine for any job. The diagnosis today: a patient in sore need of an ICE-ectomy. With that beautiful ability of hers, Kit running Spooned is a sure fire trip to the ER for any corporation. Turning every first ICE into a code gate means Knifed and Forked can stay in the drawer, because there's no slicing and dicing here. Our gal is the chief surgeon of the scoop, so step into her office, and let this doctor show you how she operates.

Here's her first trick: she knows how to get those funds up and running. A turn one Magnum Opus feels like busy work, sure, but if that burnout Carol can put in her time at MegaBuy, Kit has no problem making sure her paperwork's in order. Get it on the table first thing and start building up that bank. The cost of house calls is a bear these days.

Next, gets those stealth credits online. Because once they're out, it's time get poking around. Our patient's been complaining of a build-up of ICE across multiple servers, so the second order of business is to find out what those nasty buggers are in order to get rid of them. Kit used to be worried about anything buried behind that first piece of ICE, but she's a team player, and she's never afraid to call in the nurse. Femme Fatale is a new hire, but she comes highly recommended and can get you out of plenty a pinch. This new gig is still a Test Run for her, but she says if you like her enough to keep her, she'll Scavenge her future work and stick around.

So keep pace with the draw, keep the pressure on the servers (aiming for one run a turn should be the perfect prescription) and before you know it, that patient of ours will be sent packing in no time.

Now open up. Say ah.

Do you feel like you get enough out of Modded to include 3? It only gives a decent discount to 4 cards in the deck, and you may not even install Plascrete Carapace every game.

@xjohncandyx To say Modded discounts 4 cards isn't entirely fair. It discounts 11 individual cards in the deck (I've used it on Corroder before to free up hand space). The one reason I like it in here is its click efficiency, the obvious comparison being to Sure Gamble. If the goal is to get an RDI on the table, all other things equal a Sure Gamble is 2 clicks for a break even install - one to play the event itself, another to install. But since the deck runs Magnum Opus, installing RDI through Modded then clicking for 2c nets you 1c more. The real beauty of Modded though is the amount of quick pressure it allows you to put on, because dropping an RDI for 1 or even a Femme for 6 (gotta do what you gotta do) in a deck already flush with cash is a scary thing for a corp.

Yeah I totally missed RDI somehow. Thanks for the explanation.

I would maybe think about replacing one Femme Fatale with a Mimic. I would think that it gives more flexibility because if there are a bunch of smaller str sentries out on the board (any Jinteki: Replicating Perfection deck comes to mind) paying 9c for sentry support seems a bit overkill.

I've been using a variation of your vamp kit lately with some success. How do you feel this one works out in comparison? I'm smitten with Kit at this point.

I've noticed that you like to include scavenge with kit but I can never figure out what I am supposed to be scavenging (feels like I need all my installed programs). I eventually took those out in favor of a third CC and a third lockpick. What am I missing? I feel like I'm not using it correctly.

Why the 2x Levy instead of clone chip?

@flowerscandrinkNot OP but: Scavenge resets Femme. I include Lady over Corroder in my iteration so it resets my main fracter as well. It combos well with Test Run to get something in play for free. Drawing Scavenge and Test Run in your opening hand means free MO, getting it later could mean free Femme. It also allows for some recursion since you can choose to get something out of your heap OR grip.

`@xjohncandyx Thank you! I think I was missing the fact that you could trash the same program you are going to install.

@xjohncandyx I don't think I quite understand that Scavenge/Test Run combo. Is the program no longer considered to be "still installed" for the purposes of Test Run if you Scavenge?

20 Jan 2015 xjohncandyx

@flowerscandrinkTrashing it essentially ends the effect of Test Run. The card that is installed from the heap is considered 'new' for the purpose of Scavenge.

@xjohncandyx Oh wow, that does make it super useful. Thank you!

Why only two spoons, doesn't the deck want to be using spoon all the time?

@xjohncandyx I did some playing around with this, and ultimately I went with your suggestion to drop the Modded for Sure Gamble. SG is a life-saver when you don't see your Magnum Opus early, and having that extra, less fiddly economic backup generally just smooths gameplay out over the long run.

@BDJ With Kit's precious 10 influence, I can't justify devoting 9 to one card. At the end of the day, blowing up ICE isn't what wins you games, it's getting into servers when you need to. Femme is too important to how I pilot this deck to drop it to one copy, and I prefer Corroder over Lady anyway because I hated having to share Scavenges between that and Femme.

And one more edit. The 2x LARLA have been replaced with 2x Akamatsu.

22 Jan 2015 xjohncandyx

@BTrainI like your changes, I think you'll see a little more consistency and a smoother early game.

I was thinking since most of your cards cost only one, wouldn't it be better to run Professional Contacts over MO so you can dig for cards while get the credits you need. Now that you are running SG you can also get away with running less econ too, I was thinking that you could run 2 PC and 2 Kati to sure up your econ.

22 Jan 2015 BDJ

You could even keep one MO in the deck just for the Test Run Scavenge combo if you feel you need MO. I ran a couple games with 2 Kati and 2 PC and did really well. was 4-0 until i lost to Blue Sun that dropped Curtain Wall and Oversight AI turn one and I drew dead.

@BDJMy take on this deck has 3x MO and 2x ProCo so I'll be somewhat testing that theory. Kati could work as well but MO gives instant gratification which should allow earlier aggression in my opinion. MO can also be tutored in-faction.
