The Kaplan Replication V0.0

Him 288

This is an attempt at building a Hayley deck that would abuse the ability of Replicator. With both combined it is possible to install a piece of hardware, tutor a copy and install the latter within the same click.

Replicator + Rabbit Hole trim the deck pretty fast, keep the hand full and enhance click draws.

Comet allows a Test Run / Scavenge combo within the same click.

Inside Man provides a great boost too given that the extra cards installed or events played within the same click cost a lot of money. Yet economy seems OK with Sure Gamble, Lucky Find and Dirty Laundry. Then Magnum Opus takes the lead.

Plus the deck does not fear Power shutdown that much thanks to all the low-cost pieces of hardware.

Some issues are still to be fixed though:

  • Bad Match-up against Jinteki. Maybe Feedback Filter should be considered ?

At this stage the deck is pretty lame since Replicator pushed me to play - maybe too - many 3-ofs. Thus it might lack some kind of flavor.

After a few tests the deck went not that bad for a V0, except against Jinteki which was terrible.

So any suggestions are welcome...

I really like it, although I see no reason not to run a Prepaid VoicePAD economy, especially with Replicator and the triple Lucky Find already included.

Maybe it's just me but I can't seem to find the reason for running Rabbit Hole unless we go for Underworld Contacts. Paying 6 creds to get the memory for ZU.13 Key Master? Might be a great idea with some more Cloud Breakers, but for now I would just go with some Akamatsu Mem Chip, which also open many more possibilities when it comes to breaker suite. Then, I would switch 2x ZU.13 Key Master for 1x Torch (given we run Test Run/Scavenge). and the other spot is completely optional - so maybe 1 Cyber-Cypher for early aggression.

Also, it might be a personal preference, but I think Levy AR Lab Access is often undervalued - I mean even for Hayley Kaplan: Universal Scholar it should be awesome - you gonna burn through your deck very quickly. So it basically doubles the fuel for your Comet and makes perfect sense with the Prepaid VoicePAD mentioned by @Softman25.

*4-6 creds.

@Softman25 Thank you for the suggestion. PPVP looks great here. I am checking your decks and it looks like you're the ultimate hardware guy :)

@romanoSoprano You are right. At first I included Rabbit Hole just to trim the deck, which could make sense with Chaos Theory but not in this case. So card will be removed. Thank you. Other cards you mentioned are great additions too.

Plus with all the cards installed I'm wondering whether Aesop's Pawnshop should be included. I will give it a try and soon post a new version.

I think Aesop's Pawnshop makes sense with a bit more resource-oriented deck (Daily Casts, Earthrise Hotel and such, maybe Ghost Runner - not even for stealth just for the +2 creds from the card and trashing it for 3, netting you +4 but being an easy install in a card-spamming Hayley Kaplan: Universal Scholar, with some Imp, Cache - and those, along with Parasite would be the cards that demand some Clone Chips.).

But in this variant I believe Aesop's Pawnshop wouldn't do much good and Clone Chips don't have great targets so they could be replaced with:

Big thanks for the feedback. I admit that I solely considered Clone Chip for breakers recursion, fearing Destroyers. If I don't optimize it, it can be removed.

I will re-consider draw too, first list included Diesel but after a few tests I always had an overflow of cards due to the triggered ability of Replicator.

By the way, the latter needs to go down to 2. A 3rd one is useless; I will never get a third copy - i.e. a fourth piece - of a given card.

Parasite would be a great addition, but then I have to re-consider influence. Maybe Garrote costs too much with 3. But there is no good in-faction killer in my opinion.

@Him Interesting deck. How much playtesting have you gotten the chance to do? You mention there being no good in-faction killers. Well, Dagger is pretty good. I combine it with a Mimic to cover the cheap sentries.

I made a similar deck: see here. Like you, I committed to Replicator. I decided to run stealth breakers, since the stealth chips can be replicated to great effect, plus a Cloak or two. On top of that, I use Trade-In for hardware searching. Feel free to check it out, I'd appreciate any comments you have before I test it out for real.

Personally, I think Replicator is too important to have anything fewer than 3 copies. If you also include Trade-In, you can either search one out early or use a spare copy to search for a new piece of hardware. I would also suggest switching out Magnum Opus for Professional Contacts or Kati Jones, since they don't take up valuable memory, and you only have Comet to pump your memory capacity to 5. I'm also concerned that you're running very few copies of your breakers, with only 3 cards that can search for them. Some Self-modifying Codes might be in order. Finally, Personal Workshop is incredibly strong with Hayley, since you can use it to activate her ability on the corp's turn or during a run. (Same applies to SMC.)
